ALTA-Plot CAD Bridge

Use the native CAD Bridge to open ALTA-Plot tools from supported CAD hosts, transfer a complete arranged commitment sheet to a separate drawing, or place one selected text section directly into an existing paperspace layout. The commands open ALTA-Plot tools; they do not run an export or change a drawing by themselves.

Downloads and installation

Sign in to download the base Windows installer or base ZIP, then apply the separate current ALTA-Plot update ZIP. The update is not a complete installer.

Base Windows installer · Base ZIP · Current ALTA-Plot update ZIP

  1. Sign in to ALTA-Plot, open a project, and make sure its saved commitment, subject descriptions, Table A facts, and any real vicinity-map source are ready. CAD Bridge controls live in Project > CAD.
  2. For a new installation, download and run the base Windows installer. The base installer is an older paperspace-sections build; apply the separate ALTA-Plot update ZIP afterward to receive the refreshed binaries and menu. The update ZIP is not a complete installer.
  3. Before applying the update, close all CAD processes and back up the existing plugin DLLs. Keep the existing installation, private FIPS catalog, configuration, and other resources. Copy only the matching host build files into the existing plugin DLL directory; do not overwrite unrelated resources or install multiple host builds together.
  4. Choose the matching update folder: Modern-net8 for AutoCAD/Civil 3D .NET 8 hosts; Legacy-net472 for legacy .NET Framework AutoCAD/Civil 3D hosts; Carlson-IntelliCAD-net48 for Carlson 2025 / IntelliCAD 12.1. Carlson running on AutoCAD uses the matching AutoCAD build. AutoCAD 2027 .NET 10 is source-only; no prebuilt .NET 10 DLL is included.
  5. Copy the supplied menu/LegalPlotBridge.cuix over the existing installed CUIX, then reload the partial menu with CUILOAD or MENULOAD as appropriate. Start CAD using the existing installation/loading method. Ensure the Windows WebView2 Runtime is available.
  6. Launch the site using LEGALPLOTAPPALTA or an ALTA-Plot menu/ribbon command. This opens https://alta-plot.com and uses the ALTA-Plot browser profile, not Title-Plot. On AutoCAD/Civil 3D, the ALTA-Plot tools appear in the native ribbon and menu; Carlson/IntelliCAD provides the pull-down menu and command line, not Autodesk's runtime ribbon.

Nine ALTA-Plot functions

Combined commitment sheet

ALTAPLOTPAPERSPACE

Arrange saved subject descriptions, Schedule B wording, Table A information, ALTA notes, and the project vicinity map together on a landscape ARCH D sheet.

In the UI: Project > CAD > Combined sheet, then use the Commitment sheet arrangement editor and its Download PDF, Download DWG package, or Send sheet to CAD controls.

  1. In Project > CAD, choose Combined sheet. In the Sheet preview, select a text block; drag it to move it, drag its edge handle to adjust width, or focus it and use arrow keys. Shift + arrow moves by the larger increment.
  2. For precise placement, edit the selected block's X, Y, Width, and Text height (in) controls. Enter optional ALTA notes in the ALTA notes draft. Review all source wording in Review complete source wording.
  3. Optionally enable and map a compatible user-supplied firm template in the template controls. Resolve source, fit, and template warnings before exporting.
  4. Choose Download PDF or Download DWG package for files that do not require a running CAD bridge. Choose Send sheet to CAD to transfer through the native bridge.

Output: PDF and ZIP/DWG package downloads work without the bridge. Send sheet to CAD opens a separate DWG with editable MTEXT and its supplied companion images; it does not merge the sheet into the active drawing. Save the opened drawing in CAD as needed.

  • The layout is 36 × 24 inches landscape. Text is not shortened to fit; placement and source checks can pause output until corrected.
  • The map is the actual project vicinity source. If it is missing, the editor reports the issue rather than substituting a placeholder.
  • Table A is assembled from saved project facts/research and selected items; it does not certify that the surveyor completed those items.
  • An uncertain native send is not retried automatically. Inspect CAD before acknowledging another send.

Subject legal-description MTEXT

ALTAPLOTSUBJECT

Place the saved source legal description for all subject parcels or one chosen parcel as one editable MTEXT object.

In the UI: Project > CAD > Subject MTEXT, then Subject description, Read AutoCAD drawing & layouts, Paperspace layout, and Insert Subject legal descriptions as MTEXT.

  1. Choose Subject MTEXT in the ALTA-Plot tools. In the Subject description selector, choose All subject parcels or a specific saved parcel.
  2. Review the source wording and preview. Choose Read AutoCAD drawing & layouts, then choose an existing Paperspace layout.
  3. Adjust X/Y, text width, or text height if needed, then choose Insert Subject legal descriptions as MTEXT. Inspect and save the drawing in CAD.

Output: One editable MTEXT object is inserted in the selected layout of the active existing drawing. The text is the saved source description, not a rewritten or guessed boundary.

  • This is direct text insertion, not a generated DWG or linework transfer. The selected text height defaults to 0.10 inches and can be adjusted; the app does not automatically reduce it to fit.
  • Missing selected parcel wording blocks insertion instead of silently dropping that parcel. The direct-MTEXT limit is 500,000 characters; use the paperspace DWG export if exceeded.
  • Direct source-section MTEXT works on the matching updated Carlson/IntelliCAD host according to its advertised capability and drawing adapter; host execution remains unverified.

Schedule B MTEXT

ALTAPLOTSCHEDULEB

Insert saved Schedule B exception wording, including non-plottable and unresolved items, as editable text.

In the UI: Project > CAD > Schedule B MTEXT, then Schedule B exceptions, Read AutoCAD drawing & layouts, Paperspace layout, and Insert Schedule B exceptions as MTEXT.

  1. Choose Schedule B MTEXT in the ALTA-Plot tools. Review the saved exception count and the complete wording in Review complete text.
  2. Choose Read AutoCAD drawing & layouts and select an existing paperspace layout. Set the placement coordinates, width, and height using the selected layout's paper units.
  3. Choose Insert Schedule B exceptions as MTEXT. Inspect the active drawing and save it in CAD.

Output: One editable MTEXT object containing the saved Schedule B source wording is placed in the selected layout of the active existing drawing.

  • No missing exception wording is silently omitted: insertion is blocked until missing source text is restored. No text is automatically scaled down to fit.
  • The 0.10-inch default height is adjustable; the direct-MTEXT source limit is 500,000 characters.
  • Direct source-section MTEXT works on the matching updated Carlson/IntelliCAD host according to its advertised capability and drawing adapter; host execution remains unverified.

ALTA notes MTEXT

ALTAPLOTNOTES

Draft actual survey notes and insert them as editable MTEXT without generating survey observations, certifications, or conclusions.

In the UI: Project > CAD > Editable notes MTEXT, then ALTA notes, Read AutoCAD drawing & layouts, Paperspace layout, and Insert ALTA notes as MTEXT.

  1. Choose Editable notes MTEXT in the ALTA-Plot tools. Edit the ALTA notes field; saved project notes are prefilled when present.
  2. Review the preview, then choose Read AutoCAD drawing & layouts and select an existing paperspace layout.
  3. Set placement values if required, choose Insert ALTA notes as MTEXT, then inspect and save the active drawing in CAD.

Output: The entered notes are inserted as one editable MTEXT object in the selected layout of the active drawing.

  • Changes in this direct-insertion field are a draft for this insertion, not edits to saved project notes. Enter only actual notes supplied or reviewed by the surveyor.
  • The default text height is 0.10 inches and adjustable. Text is not automatically reduced to fit; the direct transfer has a 500,000-character limit.
  • Direct source-section MTEXT works on the matching updated Carlson/IntelliCAD host according to its advertised capability and drawing adapter; host execution remains unverified.

Exceptions and linework review

ALTAPLOTEXCEPTIONS

Review Schedule B documents and plotting status, select eligible exceptions, and optionally prepare verified boundary insertion into an active AutoCAD drawing.

In the UI: Project > CAD > Exceptions & linework opens Project > Schedule B. Review exception rows and saved statuses there. To insert selected boundaries: return to Project > CAD > File Downloads > Prepare active-drawing insertion, review each destination layer, then Insert verified boundaries.

  1. Choose Exceptions & linework in the ALTA-Plot tools to open the Schedule B tab. Review document links, instrument information, raw wording, and each exception's status.
  2. In Project > CAD > File Downloads, eligible Plottable / Plotted exception checkboxes determine selected drawing linework. Not-plottable items remain visible but are not selectable for linework.
  3. For active drawing insertion, choose Prepare active-drawing insertion. Review the destination drawing, coordinate system, each verified boundary, and its destination layer; edit a valid layer name if needed.
  4. Choose Insert verified boundaries. Review the per-boundary confirmations, then save the drawing in AutoCAD.

Output: Preparation verifies saved linework against the subject parcel; confirmed selected boundaries are inserted into the active AutoCAD drawing on the reviewed layers. Saved exception statuses are not changed.

  • Direct selected-linework insertion requires the AutoCAD-based bridge. Carlson/IntelliCAD receives linework through DWG transfer.
  • No CRS changes, origin shifts, or paperspace merging are performed. Unresolved sources remain unchanged and are reported as not inserted.
  • The operation stops on an uncertain outcome and does not retry automatically. Save in CAD; review unresolved messages and drawing state.

Table A

ALTAPLOTTABLEA

Review the project's saved Table A selections and factual information before including them in the arranged commitment sheet.

In the UI: Project > CAD > Table A opens Project > Table A. Select the requested items and choose Save. Review supporting facts in Overview, Flood Zone, and Planning & Zoning. For the arranged sheet, return to Project > CAD > Combined sheet and use Review complete source wording plus Download PDF / Download DWG package / Send sheet to CAD.

  1. Choose Table A in the ALTA-Plot tools to open the project's Table A section.
  2. Check the requested Table A items and choose Save. Review the supporting address and area in the project, flood information in Flood Zone, and zoning research in Planning & Zoning. Resolve unavailable or outdated facts before preparing output.
  3. Return to Project > CAD > Combined sheet and review the Table A block in Review complete source wording before downloading or sending the sheet.

Output: The arranged sheet uses saved Table A information and available project research for selected items; the complete text is included in the sheet outputs.

  • Table A content records project facts and research, not a completed certification that the surveyor performed or verified each item.
  • Do not treat unavailable facts as verified. Review and supply any missing factual information before relying on the sheet.

Vicinity map

ALTAPLOTVICINITY

Review the real project vicinity map used in the commitment sheet arrangement.

In the UI: Project > CAD > Vicinity map routes to Project > Vicinity Map. Review the actual project map and its source there; return to Project > CAD > Combined sheet to verify the positioned map before PDF/DWG output.

  1. Choose Vicinity map in the ALTA-Plot tools to open Project > Vicinity Map.
  2. Confirm that the displayed map represents the actual project location and that its source is available.
  3. Return to Project > CAD > Combined sheet. Check the map in the sheet preview before choosing Download PDF, Download DWG package, or Send sheet to CAD.

Output: The actual project vicinity image is positioned in the arranged sheet and supplied with the separate DWG where available.

  • A map requires actual project location/source data; the tool does not create a plausible-looking substitute.
  • If the real map cannot be loaded, the sheet reports the missing source rather than silently omitting it.
  • Downloaded DWG packages require their companion image files to remain together.

Template and styles

ALTAPLOTTEMPLATE

Use a user-supplied firm DWG template and compatible layout for sheet styling; map supported text blocks to the template's styles and placeholders.

In the UI: Project > CAD > Template & styles, then use the Firm DWG Template controls or the Commitment sheet arrangement's template controls. Account-level template management is also available under Settings.

  1. Choose Template & styles in the ALTA-Plot tools. An authorized firm-template manager can choose Upload firm template or Replace firm template and select one .dwg plus its linked PNG/JPEG files together. Other firm users can select an available template but cannot replace it.
  2. In Commitment sheet arrangement, enable template use, choose the current compatible layout, and map supported text blocks to the appropriate template text styles or replacement handles.
  3. Review template, dimensions, image, and duplicate mapping warnings. Choose a compatible 36 × 24 inch landscape layout before downloading or sending.

Output: The sheet export uses the selected supplied template's compatible layout and mapped styling, retaining supported template linework and companion images in the separate drawing.

  • A template is optional; without one the app uses a standard ARCH D 36 × 24 inch landscape sheet. Templates are user-supplied, not bundled firm examples.
  • An incompatible, changed, unavailable, or invalid template blocks output until refreshed, remapped, or disabled.
  • The browser preview is not a native CAD font/layout measurement. Review the output in its target CAD application.

PDF and DWG exports

ALTAPLOTEXPORTS

Produce a PDF or DWG package from the reviewed 36 × 24 inch commitment sheet, or transfer the complete sheet to the native CAD host.

In the UI: Project > CAD > PDF / DWG exports, then Combined commitment sheet exports: Download PDF, Download DWG package, or Send sheet to CAD. The legacy export controls are in the File Downloads card.

  1. Choose PDF / DWG exports in the ALTA-Plot tools to jump to Combined commitment sheet exports.
  2. Review full source wording, the sheet preview, map, template selection, and any placement/source warnings.
  3. Choose Download PDF or Download DWG package for a browser download; these file downloads do not require the CAD bridge.
  4. Choose Send sheet to CAD to use the installed native bridge. Inspect the separate drawing and companion images, then save it in CAD.

Output: PDF and DWG ZIP/package downloads are available without the bridge. Native send opens a separate DWG with its companion images rather than modifying the current layout.

  • The complete sheet is 36 × 24 inches landscape. Full source wording is preserved; output is paused on missing source, overflow, or incompatible template conditions instead of truncating text.
  • The map must be an actual project map; Table A reflects saved facts and research and is not survey certification.
  • Keep downloaded DWG and companion images together. Inspect CAD if a native send result is uncertain; no automatic retry occurs.

Host support and transfer details

  • The base installer at /api/cad-bridge/installer and base ZIP at /api/cad-bridge/package are older paperspace-sections builds. Apply the separate refreshed ALTA-Plot update ZIP at /api/cad-bridge/update to an existing installation; it is an update, not a complete installer.
  • The update ZIP contains refreshed Modern (.NET 8), Legacy (.NET Framework 4.7.2), and Carlson (.NET Framework 4.8) host binaries and the menu CUIX. Preserve the existing installation and its supporting resources, back up old DLLs, close CAD first, and copy only the matching host files. Do not overwrite unrelated resources or combine host builds.
  • The .NET 10 AutoCAD 2027 target is source-only. No prebuilt AutoCAD 2027 DLL is provided. No Windows CAD host acceptance or runtime testing is claimed.
  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D use the native ALTA-Plot ribbon and menu. Carlson on IntelliCAD uses the ALTA-Plot pull-down menu and command line; its adapter does not implement Autodesk's managed runtime ribbon API. Carlson running on AutoCAD uses the matching AutoCAD build.
  • Direct selected-linework insertion into the active drawing is supported by the AutoCAD-based bridge only. Carlson/IntelliCAD can receive transferred DWG output instead.
  • Direct selected-section MTEXT inserts one selected source section as editable MTEXT in a selected layout of the active existing drawing. The matching updated Carlson/IntelliCAD host advertises the paperspace and paperspace-sections capabilities and includes the Teigha/IntelliCAD drawing adapter for MTEXT. This support is based on the source capability/adapter; Windows CAD host execution has not been verified. MTEXT does not generate a DWG or merge plotted linework. Its default text height is 0.10 inches and can be adjusted; placement uses the selected layout's paper units. It does not automatically shrink text to fit.
  • The complete commitment sheet transfer opens a separate drawing, not the active layout. It includes editable text plus the positioned vicinity image and supplied template companion images when available. Preserve the extracted/downloaded DWG and image companions together.
  • Direct MTEXT does not silently omit missing exception or subject wording; the app blocks insertion if required saved source wording is missing. It also stops above its explicit 500,000-character limit and directs the user to the paperspace DWG export. The complete-sheet output validates full source wording and fit rather than silently truncating it.
  • The arranged sheet is ARCH D, 36 × 24 inches landscape. Its optional template must be a user-supplied compatible 36 × 24 inch layout. Table A includes saved facts and available research, but is not a completed survey certification. A vicinity map requires an actual project map/source; the bridge does not invent one.
  • Bridge transfer health/capability checks are required before native operations. If a native send times out or its result is uncertain, inspect the CAD host before acknowledging another send; operations are not automatically retried.
